Adv. Shmuel (Laurence) Becker
born in London England in 1940
Graduated with Ll.B (hons.) degree in 1962 from University College London (UCL) and in 1964 qualified as a Solicitor. He worked as a Solicitor in London until 1969 when he made Aliya to Israel. In 1971 he re-qualified as an Israeli Advocate and since that date has managed his own Jerusalem Law Office.
In 1983, together with his then partner the late Adv. David Saville, he received the President’s Award for Voluntary Services from President Itzhak Navon, in respect of their work assisting foreign immigrant lawyers.
Mr. Becker was one of the founders of the Public Company Givot Olam Oil Exploration and serves as the Chairman of the Board. He is Past Chairman of Machon Hamikdash and of Yeshivat Bet Orot. He is married, has a “tribe” of offspring and lives with his wife in Jerusalem.
Adv. Becker is an expert in the preparation of Enduring Powers of Attorney. The EPA is a new legal tool which is extremely important for each and every person. It is a sort of “insurance policy” to prepare for the possibility of a person losing his ability to look after his own affairs – a very unfortunate situation which, as we know, may occur. This legal document in effect replaces the previous system of appointment by the Court of a legal guardian.
Now you can, in advance, when you are healthy and mentally sound, appoint the persons of your choice to deal with the various aspects of your life and set out the way that you would like them to act, if and when you cannot function yourself.
